This house, originally built in 1953, had never been remodeled or painted. With small bedrooms and closets and a design unsuited to its expansive backyard and stunning views of Puget Sound, the house was ripe for a remodel. Dyna entirely redesigned and updated the existing structure. We opened up the west side of the home to reveal a breathtaking view by creating walls of windows and doors adjacent to a west-facing deck. We kept the house cool in the summer by carefully placing windows and skylights to take advantage of the prevailing northerly breeze. An exposed steel and bamboo stair system leads to an entirely new second story, which includes a master suite, two additional bedrooms, a laundry room and an additional bathroom.
